Irish authorities declares measures to ease gas disaster after days of protests

Ireland’s prime minister Micheal Martin has introduced measures to ease the pressures of fast-rising gas costs following main protests throughout the nation.

There might be additional reductions of duties on gas and a delay in a carbon tax improve, Mr Martin stated, in a package deal costing about 505m euro (£440m) – on prime of 250m euro (£218m) value of measures introduced virtually three weeks in the past.

It comes after police in Dublin broke up a metropolis centre blockade by gas protesters throughout a late-night operation clearing tractors and vans from the capital’s important thoroughfare, O’Connell Street.
