Two years on from Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, assault, Israelis are mourning the 1,200 individuals killed within the assault and remembering the 251 individuals taken hostage.
The anniversary falls on Sukkot, a weeklong Jewish vacation that follows Yom Kippur. Government workplaces are closed as are some companies. The official authorities marking of the anniversary will happen on Oct. 16.
Throughout Tuesday morning, crowds of individuals returned to the positioning of the Nova Festival in southern Israel near the Gaza frontier. They laid flowers, lit candles and held a minute’s silence in reminiscence of greater than 360 individuals killed there by Hamas on Oct. 7.
