Kemi Badenoch has overwhelmed her rival Robert Jenrick by greater than 12,000 votes, in an voters made from grassroot Tory members.
However the turnout was low and the margins have been slim. Ms Badenoch clocked up 56.5% of the vote in opposition to Mr Jenrick’s 43.5%, making it the closest results of any Tory management race ever.
Her typically divisive methods have cut up Conservatives, however now her job as chief is to untie a damaged celebration.
