Sir Ed Davey has insisted the Liberal Democrats are a celebration of "local activists" that "get things done" for communities.
At the launch of their native elections marketing campaign that noticed him race hobbyhorses, the occasion chief denied the general public will view them as an unserious occasion.
He stated: "They know that sometimes it’s right politicians don’t take themselves too seriously, and the message here was that it’s a two-horse race [with the Tories]."
