Mayor Eric Adams of New York cautions that migrants will cause significant harm to New York City.

On Wednesday, Mayor Eric Adams of New York expressed concern about the influx of illegal immigrants, stating that they pose a threat to the well-being of his city.

The mayor’s remarks indicated a notable increase in his language and presented a fresh obstacle to the Biden administration, which has been unsuccessful in halting the influx of individuals and providing the necessary financial assistance that Mr. Adams and other local authorities claim is required to accommodate the influx of newcomers.

“I perceive no resolution to this matter,” expressed Mr. Adams during a community gathering. “This problem has the potential to devastate New York City.”

He mentioned that the city is experiencing an influx of 10,000 new migrants every month. According to his calculations, this will result in a total expenditure of $12 billion over a period of three years to fulfill the city’s obligation of providing housing and other government services to all individuals, irrespective of their legal status.

“The Democratic mayor stated that every service within this city will be affected.”

He expressed dissatisfaction with the actions being taken against us, which appeared to be a criticism directed towards the Biden administration.

“The effects of this will reach your communities. We will all be affected by it,” he stated. “The familiar city we once knew is on the verge of being lost.”

That sounded strikingly similar to the complaints of some Republicans, who say the pressing numbers of newcomers overwhelm the ability of the U.S. to welcome and assimilate them all.

President Biden should be concerned about Mr. Adams’ recent change in rhetoric regarding the issue, as he has mostly chosen to overlook the disorder at the border.

The mayor mentioned that he has been discussing the matter for over a year, but he noted that the composition of people has shifted. Previously, the majority of individuals were Venezuelans, but now it encompasses individuals from various countries in the Western Hemisphere, Africa, and Russia.

Mr. Adams faced strong criticism from organizations advocating for immigrant rights, with many condemning his remarks as “fear-mongering.”
