Minister refuses to rule out future China involvement with British Steel

Industry Minister Sarah Jones has refused to rule out a Chinese firm taking up British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant.

The authorities moved to take over the working of the operation on the weekend after the present house owners, Jingye, stated the plant was not economically viable.

Ms Jones stated the fast way forward for the plant was safe after the federal government procured the uncooked supplies wanted to maintain the blast furnaces operational.
