The UK has signed a long-awaited deal handy management of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius.
It means Britain will hand over sovereignty of the Indian Ocean territory and lease again the very important UK-US Diego Garcia army base – at a value of billions of kilos to the taxpayer.
Armed forces minister Luke Pollard mentioned the deal secured the UK’s nationwide safety.
