The former British ambassador to Myanmar, Vicky Bowman, and her husband, who is a Myanmar national, have been arrested in the Yangon.
The news emerged shortly before an announcement about fresh UK sanctions targeting the country’s military regime.
Myanmar has suffered a period of political and economic chaos since the military overthrew the country’s elected government in early 2021.
