NASA previews upcoming Artemis 1 moon mission | CBS News

NASA officials, including Administrator Bill Nelson, held a briefing on Wednesday to provide an overview of the long-awaited Artemis 1 moon rocket launch, which is tentatively targeted for Aug. 29. The Artemis 1 launch will send an unpiloted Orion crew capsule on a test flight beyond the moon and back, ending with a blistering 20,000-mph re-entry that will expose the spacecraft’s heat shield to temperatures as high as 4,000 degrees — the primary goal of the mission.
