A person and two kids have been killed in a record-breaking flash flood that swept by means of a village in New Mexico on Tuesday, native officers mentioned.
The three have been "swept downstream by the unprecedented floodwaters that struck" the Village of Ruidoso, village officers mentioned in an announcement. More than 50 others have been rescued by emergency crews, the village mentioned.
"Our hearts are broken for the families who have lost their loved ones in this terrible tragedy," Mayor Lynn Crawford mentioned in an announcement.
The Rio Ruidoso rose "to a record-breaking 20 feet — five feet higher than the previous record," officers mentioned.
