‘New variant of mpox spreading very quickly and will pose risk to remainder of world’ – WHO

The World Health Organisation says mpox has been known as a worldwide emergency to "stop it getting worse" as a brand new variant of the illness is "spreading very rapidly".

A spokesperson for the World Health Organisation, Dr Margaret Harris, informed Sky News there are "no signs it has gone beyond Africa yet".

But she warned it had unfold to nations in Africa which have by no means seen it earlier than and have "a lot of contact" with the remainder of the world, posing a worldwide "threat".
