ALBANY, N.Y.—New York state officers mentioned they might direct one other roughly $2 billion to fund the price of caring for migrants in New York City, including to the fiscal toll of a disaster that has overwhelmed the town’s regular community of homeless shelters.

Both Gov. Kathy Hochul and New York Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday will unveil proposed budgets for the subsequent fiscal 12 months. Particularly within the metropolis, the price of caring for tens of 1000’s of migrants who’ve come to New York, normally after crossing the southern border illegally, has come to dominate municipal spending calculations.
