Can you place a value on freedom of speech?
Comedy royalty together with Dave Chapelle and Jimmy Carr, well-known for defending their proper to say no matter they need, have been paid large cash by the Saudi authorities to look on the inaugural Riyadh Comedy Festival.
But there is a catch – they don’t seem to be allowed to say something that might trigger "embarrassment" to Saudi Arabia, its royal household or any faith. The outcry has given you a brand new phrase to study – "comedy washing".
What is comedy washing and what proof is there Saudi Arabia is making an attempt to hold it out? Why have comedians agreed to carry out on the pageant and the way can they defend their determination?
