No clear pope frontrunner as day one of many conclave ends

Black smoke billowed from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel on Wednesday, which means that cardinals didn’t elect a brand new pope on the primary day of the conclave. There isn’t any clear frontrunner to take over management of the Roman Catholic Church, and cardinals will proceed voting Thursday in a collection of extremely secretive ballots till they select a successor to Pope Francis.
