Officials give replace on LaGuardia runway collision

A hearth-rescue truck concerned in Sunday’s lethal collision at New York’s LaGuardia Airport was not outfitted with a transponder — expertise that helps air visitors controllers establish and observe automobiles on the airfield — the National Transportation Safety Board mentioned Tuesday.

Also, the airport’s floor detection tools – ASDE-X – didn’t generate an alert forward of the collision “due to the close proximity of vehicles merging and unmerging near the runway,” NTSB chairwoman Jennifer Homendy mentioned.
