Once more, clashes break out on the border between Lebanon and Israel following the launch of an anti-tank missile from Lebanon.

BEIRUT (AP) — Clashes erupted again Tuesday on the border between Lebanon and Israel, where Israeli forces and armed groups in Lebanon have engaged in a series of low-level skirmishes since the outbreak of the latest war in Gaza.

According to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed, a missile launched from Lebanon targeted the town of Metula in northern Israel on Tuesday morning, resulting in injuries to three individuals.

No party in Lebanon has promptly accepted accountability. It remains uncertain whether the wounded individuals are civilians or soldiers, however, Israel has instructed civilians to vacate the vicinity close to the Lebanon border.

According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, Israel retaliated by launching artillery fire and using white phosphorus in multiple locations along the southern border with Lebanon. The Israeli military stated that they responded by firing tanks into Lebanon following the launch of an anti-tank missile from across the border.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli armed forces reported that they eliminated four militants who had made an attempt to place explosive devices on a border wall separating Israel and Lebanon. A video captured by an Israeli military surveillance drone depicted the militants in close proximity to the dividing wall when they were specifically targeted, resulting in an explosion.

No one took responsibility for the incident. In the previous week, members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in southern Lebanon entered Israeli territory and engaged in a confrontation with Israeli soldiers, resulting in the death of three individuals and injuries to multiple others. The militants were subsequently killed, and the Palestinian organization organized funeral ceremonies for two of them.

There are concerns that Hezbollah and other groups supported by Iran in the area might intensify the conflict with Israel to aid Hamas if there is a ground invasion in Gaza. Currently, the exchange of artillery fire between Hezbollah and Israel has been confined to a few towns along the border.

Israel has issued a warning that if Hezbollah initiates a fresh conflict, the entire nation of Lebanon will face severe repercussions.

The increasing verbal exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel have resulted in a rush of diplomatic efforts to prevent a bigger conflict.

After his meeting with the Lebanese counterpart, Turkey’s foreign minister, Hakkan Fidan, expressed to reporters in Beirut on Tuesday that the current conflict between Israel and Hamas could potentially escalate into more significant conflicts.

He stated that every effort is being made to prevent the war from extending to other nations.
