Morgan Freeman gave tribute to Oscar winner Gene Hackman, 4 days after Hackman was discovered useless.
"This week our community lost a giant, and I lost a dear friend, Gene Hackman," he stated earlier than the Oscars In Memoriam phase. "He received two Oscars and more importantly he won the hearts of film lovers all over the world."
Freeman then launched the In Memoriam phase, remembering lives misplaced during the last 12 months.
Names highlighted within the phase included Gena Rowlands, Maggie Smith, filmmaker Jeff Baena, Bob Newhart, Kris Kristofferson, Teri Garr, Cheng Pei-Pei, John Amos, Bill Cobbs, Joan Plowright, Anouk Aimée, Donald Sutherland, Art Evans, songwriter Richard M.
