Raw supplies for Scunthorpe plant ‘paid for’ in race towards time to avert shutdown

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner says she’s "confident" the British Steel blast furnaces in Scunthorpe will proceed working, because the uncooked supplies wanted to take action "have been paid for".

Ministers rushed via an emergency invoice on Saturday to take over the ability after talks with Chinese homeowners Jingye broke down, and considerations they’d enable the blast furnaces in to exit, successfully ending metal manufacturing within the UK.
