Remebering Hurricane Katrina 20 years later
20 years in the past as we speak, the town of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast modified without end as Hurricane Katrina made landfall as a monster class three storm. Nearly 1400 individuals had been finally killed. More than 1 million had been displaced from their houses, and New Orleans was largely underwater after the levees failed, inflicting catastrophic flooding all throughout the town.
Historian Douglas Brinkley, writer of “The Great Deluge, Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast” joins CNN’s Dana Bash to debate the storm’s affect on the Gulf area.
