Thousands of houses have had their boiling water restrictions lifted after a water tank contaminated with cryptosporidium was drained and cleaned, South West Water has mentioned.

About 16,000 households within the Brixham space of Devon had been informed to boil their consuming water following 46 confirmed instances of the illness.

South West Water lifted the boiling restrictions for 14,500 houses after water high quality monitoring outcomes discovered no traces of cryptosporidium within the Alston provide space.
