The Romanian ringleader of a grooming gang was supplied £1,500 to depart the UK after which had his EU pre-settled standing renewed, elevating questions on immigration processes.
A Sky News investigation has discovered that 38-year-old Marian Cumpanasoiu was given a Home Office voluntary return type in 2024 whereas in custody awaiting trial for rape. That was halted when it was realised that he was awaiting trial. But just some months later his EU pre-settled standing was renewed robotically.
Cumpanasoiu was final month jailed for greater than 20 years for 10 rapes and is anticipated to be deported on the finish of his sentence.
