Scientists have discovered what they’re calling the strongest signal but of doable life past our photo voltaic system after detecting the chemical footprint of gases in an alien planet’s environment that on Earth are solely produced by dwelling organisms.
Using the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists discovered traces of two gases – dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) – on a planet named K2-18 b.
On Earth, these gases are generated primarily by dwelling organisms together with algae, suggesting K2-18 b may very well be teeming with microbial life.
