Sean Grayson sentenced to twenty years in jail for deadly capturing of Sonya Massey

Sean Grayson, the previous Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy, was sentenced on Thursday to twenty years in jail after he was convicted in October 2025 of second-degree homicide for the July 2024 deadly capturing of Sonya Massey, a Black girl who known as 911 to report a potential intruder at her residence in Springfield, Illinois.
