Chris Philp, the shadow residence secretary, has admitted the final Conservative authorities failed on immigration, after accusing Labour of shedding management of the UK’s borders.
The former minister stated authorized migration has been too excessive beneath successive governments including, "it was a mistake, it should never have been allowed to happen."
His speech on the Conservative Party convention in Manchester comes as not less than 20 Tory councillors have introduced their deflection to the Reform Party.
