Sue Gray has resigned as Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of workers

Sue Gray has resigned as Sir Keir Starmer’s high adviser, Number 10 has introduced.

In a press release, the prime minister thanked Ms Gray for "all the support she has given me, both in opposition and government, and her work to prepare us for government and get us started on our programme of change".

She has been appointed because the prime minister’s new envoy for areas and nations.

Chief adviser and former Labour common election marketing campaign director Morgan McSweeney will substitute her because the prime minister’s high adviser.
