The investigation by the House is getting closer to uncovering a collection of classified documents related to Biden, but they are cautious about any potential connections to his family’s international business dealings.

House investigators on Monday requested permission to examine the collection of classified documents that were unlawfully acquired and stored by President Biden. Their objective is to ascertain whether these sensitive materials were utilized in any way related to the profitable foreign business transactions of the Biden family.

House lawmakers have written a letter to special counsel Robert K. Hur, who was assigned by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Mr. Biden’s possession of the documents. They are seeking permission to examine all the documents that were found in the case, along with any other relevant material.

“I cannot reword”

Mr. Comer is currently leading an investigation into Mr. Biden’s participation in his son’s business transactions with various countries, including Ukraine, Russia, China, Romania, and others. These deals are being examined in relation to Mr. Biden’s tenure as vice president.

Mr. Hur has been investigating Mr. Biden’s possession and storage of classified documents since January, and privately interviewed the president about the matter last week. Mr. Biden reported the classified material to the National Archives and Records Administration last Nov. 2 and waited until January to disclose the matter to the public.

Mr. Comer inquired in his letter to Mr. Hur if there were any restrictions or arrangements that hindered federal investigators from questioning Mr. Biden regarding the tax fraud case related to his son, Hunter Biden. This case has presented evidence that raises doubts about Mr. Biden’s participation in his son’s business ventures abroad.

Mr. Comer has expressed skepticism regarding the accuracy of the timeline provided by Mr. Biden for the discovery of the documents.

According to witness testimony and other evidence, President Biden began dispatching staff to retrieve boxes of documents at his think tank, the Penn Biden Center, months before his administration contacted the National Archives about the discovery of the classified material.

On May 11, 2022, the top lawyer at the White House under Mr. Biden requested the information. This was also the day when the Justice Department issued a subpoena to former President Donald Trump regarding his collection of classified materials in Florida. The subpoena has led to numerous criminal charges.

The investigators from the House have requested Mr. Hur to furnish a record containing the names of countries and individuals mentioned in classified documents, along with a copy of the report and notes from Mr. Hur’s interview with Mr. Biden and his former White House Counsel, Dana Remus. Ms. Remus initiated her efforts to obtain this information from the Penn Biden Center on the same day that Mr. Trump received a subpoena from the Justice Department.

Lawmakers claim that the sequence of events and actions indicate that Mr. Biden’s team might have known about his possession of classified documents well before November 2, 2022, when his lawyer stated that they found the material and called the NARA to collect it.

Classified material was found in the garage of Mr. Biden’s residence in Willmington, Delaware, along with the Penn Biden Center.

Before NARA officials arrived, a number of White House officials had the privilege of accessing classified materials at the Penn Biden Center. Additionally, certain boxes containing personal items were sent away.
