The Kremlin criticizes the disrespectful manner in which Biden spoke about Putin and Ukraine in his speech.

The Kremlin was displeased with the content and tone of President Biden’s recent address in the Oval Office. In his speech, he proposed a significant funding package, including billions of dollars, to support Ukraine in its defense against a Russian invasion.

In his speech, Mr. Biden likened Russia’s war in Ukraine to the murderous rampage by Hamas militants against Israel on Oct. 7, said Russian forces had committed war crimes during the invasion, and charged that Russia, like Hamas, “wants to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy.”

But it was the personal attacks on Russian President Vladimir Putin — whom Mr. Biden repeatedly referred to only as “Putin” in his speech — that appeared to rankle Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“I cannot reword”

Mr. Peskov expressed his dissatisfaction with how the U.S. establishment consistently discusses Putin across all levels, from low to high. He also mentioned that Putin’s family name is deeply intertwined with U.S. domestic politics, and this is evident to anyone who observes it.

Dmitry Medvedev, the current deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council and former President of Russia, stated that the strong comments made by Mr. Biden reveal the misguided nature of American foreign policy and their readiness to support conflicts in other nations.

Mr. Peskov hinted that Mr. Biden’s personal tone was unacceptable, alongside the substantial criticisms.

He expressed doubt regarding the appropriateness of such rhetoric for leaders who are responsible at a national level.
