The Los Angeles Rams have placed wide receiver Cooper Kupp on injured reserve due to a persistent hamstring problem.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Los Angeles Rams have placed receiver Cooper Kupp on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least their first four games.

On Saturday, the Rams placed their new tight end, Hunter Long, on injured reserve, just a day before their season opener in Seattle.

Kupp sustained a hamstring injury on August 1 during training camp, and he worsened the injury towards the end of last month. Despite receiving treatment and consulting with a specialist in Minnesota, the Super Bowl 56 MVP did not recover sufficiently to participate in the game.

Kupp also missed the final eight games of last season with an ankle injury. He won the triple crown of receiving in 2021 and was named the AP’s NFL Offensive Player of the Year before leading the Rams to their Super Bowl victory over Cincinnati.

Kupp won’t be eligible to play until the Rams host Philadelphia in Week 5 on Oct. 8.

The Rams have added kicker Brett Maher and quarterback Brett Rypien to their roster for their upcoming game against the Seahawks in Seattle. Rypien will serve as the backup to Matthew Stafford since Stetson Bennett, who has a shoulder injury, will not be able to play.

The practice squad of Los Angeles welcomed linebacker Troy Reeder as a new signing.
