Edward Luce, US nationwide editor, discusses the parallel lives of the twentieth century’s two finest recognized nationwide safety advisers to US presidents. Luce, the creator of a brand new biography of Zbigniew Brzezinski, compares and contrasts the profession of the emigre Pole who suggested Democrat Jimmy Carter, with that of Henry Kissinger, the Jewish-German refugee who served two Republican presidents. While each introduced the angle of outsiders to international coverage historically dominated by Anglo-Saxon "wasps", their impression differed in significant methods, as an illustration on their strategy to Moscow. Crucially, they each served presidents who might be disagreed with, in distinction to forty seventh president Donald Trump.
