‘There’s been no wrongdoing on behalf of the prime minister’, Darren Jones insists
Darren Jones insists that there is been "no wrongdoing on behalf of the prime minister" within the vetting strategy of Peter Mandelson.
It follows a row that has carried on all through the week, after it was revealed 10 days in the past that Lord Mandelson was given developed vetting safety clearance, regardless of successfully having failed safety checks.
The chief secretary to the prime minister informed Sky News: "The prime minister has been very clear that the decision to appoint Peter Mandelson as ambassador of the United States was the wrong one. He regrets that and he has apologised for it."
