Rep. Debbie Dingell stated Sunday that she has but to see any proof of wrongdoing by President Biden after House Republicans voted final week to maneuver ahead with an impeachment inquiry into the president.
“I’ve talked to numerous Republicans who have publicly and quietly said, ‘There’s no there there.’ They can’t find anything,” Ms. Dingell, Michigan Democrat, stated on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Republicans say there are examples of Mr. Biden enjoying a job in his son Hunter Biden’s international enterprise dealings and the Biden household benefited financially from it. But they haven’t but introduced proof of the president’s direct involvement.
Democrats have repeatedly stated there is no such thing as a proof, and a few Republicans have remained skeptical as nicely.
“There were a lot of arms broken,” Ms. Dingell stated. “I’ve talked to those members whose arms are broken about even voting for this on the House floor. And I think it will be much harder to get the number they will require to have an impeachment if they don’t find something.”
But it’s not simply House lawmakers who’re elevating considerations concerning the legitimacy of the inquiry claims. On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham stated his Republican colleagues within the House must work on convincing him that the president engaged in any wrongdoing.
“If there were a smoking gun, I think we’d be talking about,” the South Carolina Republican stated. “You know what I’m worried about? Helping the president bring the Middle East to a better spot. Trying to convince the Arabs and the Israelis to not let Iran get you off track, give Israel the space to destroy Hamas. I’m trying to find a way forward to secure a broken border before we’re attacked. That’s what I’m more worried about than anything.”
Mr. Graham added he hasn’t been paying a lot consideration to the impeachment inquiry conversations.
“They have to prove that President Biden somehow financially benefited from the business enterprises of Hunter Biden. We’ll see,” he stated.
