Tomatoes fly at Colombia’s largest meals struggle
Around 20,000 revellers gathered in Sutamarchán, Colombia, to throw over 45 tonnes of tomatoes at one another. The Gran Tomatina competition, now in its fifteenth 12 months, is hosted to rejoice the economic system of Sutamarchán, which is centred round tomato manufacturing. Mayor Miguel Andrés Rodríguez stated "between 70 and 80 percent of families [in Sutamarchán] live off tomatoes. This is a tribute to them." The competition makes use of tomatoes that are overripe, or in any other case not appropriate for consumption.
