The governor of Illinois has accused Donald Trump of "attempting to manufacture a crisis" over experiences the US president was contemplating deploying the navy within the state.
US newspaper The Washington Post reported on Saturday that the Pentagon was drafting plans to deploy the US military in Chicago, the most important metropolis within the state.
It comes as a part of Mr Trump’s crackdown on crime, homelessness, and unlawful immigration in primarily Democrat-run cities. He not too long ago deployed the National Guard in Washington DC.
