US President Donald Trump says he determined to strike Iran as a result of it was the perfect alternative to "eliminate the intolerable threats posed by this sick and sinister regime".
"For almost 47 years, this regime has been attacking the United States and killing Americans," he says.
"Every time you see someone with missing arms and legs or a face that’s been absolutely shattered violently, it was almost certainly caused by an Iran roadside bomb," he added.
