A robust 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia’s far east within the early hours of the morning.
It has triggered fears of tsunamis throughout the Pacific, with warnings and alerts in place throughout Japan, components of the US, together with Hawaii, California, and Alaska, and the Philippines.
