The mayor of Istanbul and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s foremost rival has been formally arrested and jailed pending trial over corruption prices.
Ekrem Imamoglu was initially detained on Wednesday – sparking widespread protests throughout Turkey which have since intensified.
