Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers had been convicted of inflicting legal harm to the tree and to Hadrian’s Wall following a trial in May.
The pair drove from Cumbria to the Northumberland landmark throughout a storm. One of them felled the sycamore and the opposite filmed it. The courtroom heard how the pair brought about greater than £622,000 in damages by reducing down the tree and damaging Hadrian’s Wall, each belonging to the National Trust.
