UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has defended the brand new Champions League format.
Despite admitting there are too many matches in response to considerations from gamers about their workload because of the new expanded league format, he stated: "The factor is that from one perspective we have now golf equipment saying we can’t afford paying gamers and coaches anymore, they’re in monetary difficulties.
"From the other point of view, players of course don’t want to play more matches but I think with these interesting matches, this will be a benefit for everyone."
