Ukraine: launch of postal wagons within the project “Iron Post” united 6 largest cities of Ukraine and allowed to transport more than 2 million parcels in 3 months – Minister Kubrakov

The launch of postal wagons within the project “Iron Post” united 6 largest cities in Ukraine and allowed to transport more than 2 million parcels in 3 months. This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov:

“Returned from a business trip to Kharkiv region.

Kharkiv resists Russian terrorist attacks every day. Almost every evening the city is shelled, although it makes no military sense. They are shooting simply because they can. So far they can.

One of the tasks of the trip is to develop the #IronPost project, which we launched on April 1. It is a joint project of two state companies – “Ukrzaliznytsia” and “Ukrposhta”.

Due to different reasons, more than 20 years ago the mail carriage service (by railway cars) was stopped. But with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, it became obvious that such cooperation is necessary.

Currently, 11 cars are delivering parcels from six cities in Ukraine – Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odessa, Kharkiv and Dnipro to Kyiv and back. The most popular are two directions: Kyiv-Lviv and Kyiv-Kharkiv.

And it was Kharkiv, by the way, where #IronPost delivered its two millionth parcel.

At the same time in Lviv and Dnipro the access roads and platforms for loading-unloading of shipments were restored.

The next steps in the modernization of infrastructure for the operation of freight postal wagons will be carried out in Kharkiv, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk.

Our goal is to use the resources and logistics capabilities of state-owned companies as much as possible.

We met with military medics. Together with them we drove along the roads of Kharkiv region. We continue to work here and restore road links where possible. We understand that the front line is constantly moving – the closer to the war zone, the more important it is to do everything on time.

The key task is to assist the military and create a flexible logistics system to provide the frontline and civilian population with the necessary supplies.

We believe in the Armed Forces of UKraine, we work for victory,” Kubrakov noted.
