Negotiators from the US and China have signaled progress on commerce talks between the worldwide powers, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent touting the “substantial framework” of a deal to keep away from escalating tariffs. But US officers have indicated that the way forward for a possible commerce deal will in the end hinge on this week’s assembly between US President Donald Trump and Chinese chief Xi Jinping.
