Eighty years after the Japanese surrendered, formally ending World War II, CNN’s Stephanie Elam sat down with US Navy veteran Doyle Boothroy, who served on the USS Missouri in the course of the struggle. Boothroy says he first boarded the Missouri in February of 1945 when he was 19 years previous. He recollects what life was like on the “Mighty Mo,” crusing near a hurricane and watching as members of the Japanese Imperial Government boarded the Missouri on September 2, 1945, to participate within the give up ceremony. #CNN #News
