Watch Live: Jan. 6 hearing examines what Trump was doing during Capitol riot | CBS News
The House Jan. 6 committee is conducting its eighth public hearing at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday to examine former President Donald Trump’s actions after rioters descended on the Capitol. "One of the main points we’re going to make here is that President Trump had the power to call off the mob here. He was maybe the sole person who could call off the mob and he chose not to," a committee aide said. The committee has continued to lay out evidence showing Trump encouraged his supporters to descend on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after peddling false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
