Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to give an address around 2:15 p.m. ET on Monday at the United Nations in New York City. Blinken spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday for the first time since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The pair had a direct discussion about the proposal the U.S. put forward to secure the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan.
