Watch reside from Beirut and Southern Lebanon, bordering Israel. The Israeli army has confirmed its troops have begun a "targeted ground operation" in southern Lebanon.

The Israel Defence Forces stated it had begun "localised and targeted raids" towards Hezbollah targets within the border space of southern Lebanon.

"These targets are located in villages close to the border and pose an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel," it added.

It added the operation will proceed "according to the situational assessment and in parallel to combat in Gaza and in other arenas".
