West Midlands Police chief constable steps down after Maccabi Tel Aviv followers row
The chief constable of West Midlands Police (WMP) is to retire following a row over the drive’s resolution to ban Israeli soccer followers from a match in Birmingham for security causes.
Craig Guildford will step down with speedy impact, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster confirmed.
His resolution comes after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated she didn’t have faith within the police chief, following his drive’s controversial ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters from a Europa League match in opposition to Aston Villa at Villa Park in November.
