The White House has discovered a brand new recruit to promote the US struggle on Iran to an more and more sceptical American public: SpongeBob SquarePants.⁠

In a video posted by the White House on X, a clip of the cartoon character says, ‘do you need to see me do it once more?’ as unclassified footage of US missiles blowing up Iranian jets and vehicles seems. The caption reads: ‘Will not cease till the goals are met. Unrelenting. Unapologetic.’⁠

An unlikely warmonger, SpongeBob SquarePants is simply one of many web memes harnessed by US officers in a propaganda marketing campaign that has drawn closely on video video games, motion films and cartoons to have a good time American army prowess in Iran, the FT’s Guy Chazan explains.⁠
