The mayor of London Sadiq Khan and sources within Whitehall have confirmed that all primary schools will remain closed in London for the start of term.
It’s a major U-turn from Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, who had previously maintained that schools would return.
It comes amid surging cases of coronavirus in boroughs across the city.
