Labour frontbencher Pat McFadden has said inflation figures are "higher than expected" and that markets had expected them to be lower.
Mr McFadden laid the blame for sky-high mortgage rates squarely at the door of former PM Liz Truss, saying: "People are still paying the price for that mini-budget."
